Lean Six Sigma Initiative at MPI Research
|
| 2009-12-30 |
MATTAWAN, MI December 30, 2009:
MPI Research is taking a proactive approach to the changes being faced by the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device industries it serves by adopting Lean Six Sigma (LSS) practices as an integral part of their quality initiative. Emerging challenges resulting from a combination of factors - the recent economic downturn, expirations of blockbuster drug patents, a dwindling pipeline, uncertainty about the future of healthcare reimbursement, and more merger and acquisition activity than ever before - have driven these industries to reassess competitive strategy. Via its LSS programs, MPI Research is assisting their pharma, biotech, and medical device customers in optimizing productivity, efficiency, and quality.
Under the direction of Mary Ann Scott, Senior Director of Regulatory Operations, MPI Research has completed six major LSS initiatives that have resulted in improved efficiencies, quality enhancements, and new insight to drive even further improvement. Ms Scott says, "At MPI Research, we are always looking for a better way. This stems from our philosophical foundation that continuous improvement is not a goal to achieve but a way of life. LSS provides us with a methodical, comprehensive, and measurable structure to implement our philosophy." MPI Research has successfully applied LSS within GLP and non-GLP service areas. The company recognizes that poor execution is the major impediment to successful implementation of strategic vision, and welcomes external scrutiny of its LSS programs by its Sponsors.
MPI Research, with global headquarters in Mattawan, Michigan, is one of the world's leading providers of comprehensive preclinical and early clinical research and development services, including medical device evaluation and bioanalytical and analytical testing. In addition to a comprehensive array of drug safety evaluation services, MPI Research also has a Discovery Center that offers experimental therapeutics (in vivo, molecular and cell-based assays), experimental surgery, molecular imaging, drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and immunology.
